Key Responsibilities
- Lift Planning: Write comprehensive, site-specific lift plans, risk assessments, and method statements for routine and complex lifts.
- Equipment Selection: Choose the correct cranes, hoists, rigging gear, and accessories based on load weight, radius, and ground conditions.
- Team Competence: Verify that crane operators, riggers, and signalers hold valid certifications and understand the job.
- Site Control: Establish safe zones, inspect ground bearing pressures, and monitor weather or environmental shifts.
- Authority to Stop Work: Retain absolute power to halt any lift immediately if safety parameters change or rules are broken.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Certification: Valid industry-recognized certification such as LEEA Appointed Person or local regulatory equivalent (e.g., OSHA, BS 7121 standards).
- Experience: Minimum 4 to 7 years of hands-on experience in heavy lifting, rigging, or crane supervision within construction, oil and gas, or infrastructure.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of crane load charts, rigging physics, and local health and safety laws.
